Our story

About the firm

Owner-led. Independent. Tanzanian.

Why we exist

For too long, East African cargo owners have negotiated with global tonnage through London, Singapore or Dubai middlemen who don't understand a Mtwara cashew season, a Dar berth queue or what a Friday holiday at TASAC means for laytime.

Bahari Nexus was founded by Tanzanians who have worked both sides of the desk — at owners' offices in Athens and Singapore, and at shippers in Dar and Mwanza. We bring that perspective home.

How we work

We are independent. We own no vessels. We carry no inventory. We have no chartered tonnage to fill or empty boxes to dispatch. Our only product is judgement, and our compensation is brokerage commission — paid by whichever side hires us.

We hold a Tanzania Shipping Agencies Corporation (TASAC) shipbroker licence and operate to FONASBA standards of conduct. Every fixture we negotiate is documented under recognised charter party forms (NYPE, BALTIME, GENCON, ASBATANKVOY) with terms appropriate to the cargo, route and counterparties.
